About this deal

It contains previously unknown secrets of the band, such as future plans of the movie, new and rare art by Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett, the "low down" on Kong Studios, their headquarters, and the story of the truth behind the " El Mañana" video.

The book details the life-stories of the band-members: Murdoc Niccals, 2-D, Russel Hobbs, and Noodle. With track by track analyses of their two albums, all of their performances, and even a section on why '23' pops up so much, this is a must have book for all REAL Gorillaz fans. My only wish is that they would release the book with added info, since Plastic Beach came out afterwards. It's really a piece unlike any other and it is such a shame there's no sequel (even if the Gorillaz Almanac seems to be in a somewhat similar vein). However, the audiobook remains incomplete, as only the first few chapters of the book were ever narrated. As far as I can tell, this at least gets all the content right, even if the experience of leafing through that beautiful hardcover is lost.

The dust wrapper is in very good condition, bright, with two teeny closed tears and slight creasing to the top to the front. As a long time fan of Gorillaz, I enjoy watching, listening, and reading anything they come up with. It'll be packed full of great shots from the sets of our videos, gigs, rehearsals, interviews…you name it.

Thank you for preserving this excellent book - I have many great memories of checking this out from the library in high school over and over again and using it to piece together the lore behind a band I loved. The book blends fact and fiction throughout, interspersing commentary from the band members with actual quotes from their creators, collaborators and critics. An audiobook of Rise of the Ogre was released in four parts; making it the first audiobook in the world to be released in a singles format. Brilliant history (fictional) of the band Gorillaz, for the really avid fans, packed full of gorgeous illustrations of the band by Jamie Hewlett. The book explores their origins, their loves and hates, they're issues, victories, writing lyrics, creating videos, collaborating (with the ppl that actually took part in creating the band), photo shoots, romances, affairs, hauntings etc, arguing and discussing every thing while showing pictures of them every step of the way. Initially an iTunes exclusive, one part was released every week for four weeks beginning 4 December 2006. If it won't get re-published (which I hope it will) with the addition of Plastic Beach story this may turn into quite the collectors artifact! Gorillaz have always been as much about the visuals as they are about the music, and the autobiography will be a feast for the eyes.
