About this deal

It captures the birth of Ziggy from the spectacular, meticulously planned shows in the UK and USA, to the death of Ziggy when he broke up the band.

David Bowie's sharp, often humorous text discusses the origins of this fascinating stage persona, comments on Mick Rock's photographs, and overall gives unprecedented insight into Ziggy's stratospheric two-year career" (publisher's online prospectus).

I rarely pre-warned the band of things that I might get up to, as many interesting ideas were shot down before they were even hatched, such was the conservative disposition of those particular arthropods, Mick usually the main offender. There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data. Filled with an incredible number of Mick Rock's incredible photos, plus some fascinating insights from David Bowie himself into the creative process behind the Ziggy era. Is really special best quality, I am a Queen fan as well and would wish Queen to have a book big as this and same kind of quality!

The highlights for me are not only the comments that Bowie makes throughout the book but the images, some never published before. Rock accompanied Bowie on tour to the US and the UK, capturing his life both on stage and behind the scenes at the height of his Ziggy Stardust period.Ziggy really sang, Screwed-up eyes and screwed-down hairdo, Like some cat from Japan’ – Ziggy Stardust Photograph © Mick Rock – www. During the entire book one cannot slip the feeling of Bowie being an icon in so many ways, staying humble through his own words, debunking myths (once as "tosh") and glorifying the people who helped him to garb, make-up and generally help him in a variety of ways, not least Mick Ronson and Mick Rock.

Most of his early costumes were designed by Freddie Burretti and later Kansai Yamamoto, his inspiration ranged from kabuki theatre, Japanese culture, his mentor Lindsay Lemp, to Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange. Published in a new larger format, this uncut edition keeps to Bowie and Rock's original vision, allowing us to explore Moonage Daydream the way the authors intended. Dressed in a striking costume, his hair dyed reddish-brown, Bowie launched his Ziggy Stardust stage show with the Spiders from Mars at the Toby Jug pub in Tolworth in Kingston upon Thames on February 10th 1972.Born in London, Rock went on to reside in New York City for over 35 years, where he continued to photograph artists such as Lady Gaga and The Killers. Alongside Mick Rock's reflections on these incredible images, David Bowie adds his own thoughts: discussing Ziggy's origins ad giving an unprecedented insight into the stratospheric two-year career of his alter-ego.

The rock n’ roll icon Ziggy Stardust made his indelible mark on the world of pop music back in the early ’70s. We'd driven there in a Robin Reliant (I was a passenger - I still don't drive), a three wheeler, three of us, and we picked up a hitchhiker on the way. For some reason they thought we were big time dealers rather than 3 stupid 17 year olds up from sticks. The closest we’ll ever get to a straight up Bowie autobiography — but who’d ever want anything straight-up from Bowie? Within the set is an exclusive Mick Rock Estate-stamped print of a photograph not previously included in Moonage Daydream.Ziggy Stardust blazed briefly but intensely, and I am delighted to see his life and times as a rock'n'roll star immortalised in this beautiful limited edition. There's pictures from that night here and some show the crowd gathered around the stage, none of them yet Ziggie-fied.
