About this deal

It’d be really nice to see an expansion come for this, especially if it adds some elements that are missing from this iteration of BANG! Like a number of dice game, there’s a bit of push-your-luck element, but most of the push your luck is to affect your own life in the game rather than impact others that you’re trying to knock out. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that the Renegade is included in the game series, as trying to figure out who is the Renegade and who is the Deputy is the best part of the hidden identity element of the game. The Bullet comes with a shiny Sheriff’s badge for the Sheriff, and it’s kind of unfortunate that there’s no similar thing for Dice Game owners. The player may inflict a point of damage on an opponent seated the appropriate number of seats from him.

I rather like the yahtzee mechanic employed here as well, it tends to keep the pace up and the added randomness helps the game feel lighthearted enough that no one can take it too seriously. It locks situational capability into a particular context around the table, and it might languish there unused. Dice are marked by symbols, and while colour is used it’s not the only way faces are differentiated.

It reminds me slightly of the game 'The Resistance' which features a similar secret role mechanic, although this game is a lot less stressful and probably a lot more fun. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Or at least, they don’t work very well in this game and I have never seen a game of a similar ilk where they’ve improved the experience. team Outlaws), it may not actually be useful to use Gatling because you’ll hurt your own people, too.

You might very well be a sheriff that spends his or her turn pumping bullets into the two players that you believe are the deputies on your side, just because that’s all the dice let you do. We gave it two and a half stars in our review, which is the MLU equivalent of a shrug and a vaguely puzzled look. Players are then randomly given a Character card (16 different characters) which determines how many life points and which special ability they’ll have. The Dice Game, the only player you can trust is yourself (unless you forget which role you have and accidentally sabotage yourself).Bang the Dice Game also makes use of Yahtzee style dice rolling – roll a set of dice, keep some, reroll others.

It’s certainly possible to play with support in most circumstances for visually impaired players, and the totally blind can make use of other workarounds for their hidden roles. As sheriff you still have to bring the outlaws to heel, as outlaws you still have to stop the law and as renegades you still want to be the last alive, only now the Indians want you all dead too! Bang' is an absolutely fantastic game for 3-8 players that plays in about 15 minutes, making it a great way to start an evening off or fill a bit of space. With Bang we have an interesting amount of ambiguity in that the dice give people plausible reasons for actions that seem to act against their expressed self-interest. Once you’ve played the game a few times with the same group, the roles are second nature and you don’t have to worry about floundering and being caught out.The cards and tokens too are really well designed, making all of the information easily understandable. Gatling – If a player rolls three Gatling symbols in a turn then the Gatling gun is activated and all other players lose one hit point.
